Webinfosys's Sports News : Federer to face Nadal in French Open final

Top seed Roger Federer of Switzerland will play triple defending champion Rafael Nadal of Spain in the French Open final on Sunday.

Federer won through with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 win over unseeded Gael Monfils of France.

Second seed Nadal earlier had beaten Serbian third seed Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-2, 7-6 (7/3).

It will be the third straight year that Federer and Nadal have met in the final at Roland Garros with Nadal winning the previous two. Nadal also defeated Federer in the 2005 semi-finals.

Federer though will be going for his 13th career Grand Slam title, one short of the record of 14 held by Pete Sampras.

Nadal will have a shot at equalling Bjorn Borg as the only player to win four straight French Open titles. The Swede achieved that feat in 1981.
